China’s Uyghur policies a ‘racialised atrocity crime’, Harvard law scholar finds
New research has found Chinese authorities sentenced Uyghurs to prison for an average of 8.8 years, including for “offences” such as wearing a hijab or sending money to family abroad.
It concludes that without urgent action by the international community, the Uyghur culture and way of life could be wiped out forever.
Uyghurs in Australia want the government to sanction Chinese officials responsible for human rights abuses — just as officials from Russia, Myanmar and Iran have been.
