On Sunday at this office, President Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepal had a meeting with Yuan Jiajun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.

During the meeting, Yuan said that China is eager to expand its practical cooperation with Nepal under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and to vigorously advance the two countries’ strategic partnership of cooperation, which includes enduring friendship for growth and prosperity.

Yuan added that Chongqing is willing to increase cooperation and exchanges with Nepal in agriculture, poverty reduction, and education to enrich the relationship between the two countries through subnational exchanges. The CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with Nepali political parties to boost the development of China-Nepal relations.

According to Poudel, Nepal and China have a strong history of cooperation and close ties in many spheres. Nepal respects China’s crucial contribution to its development, upholds the one-China principle, and forbids any force from using Nepali territory for any anti-China activity.

In order to advance the BRI building and further the development of the bilateral ties, Poudel noted that Nepal is eager to intensify exchanges and collaboration with China at the government, political party, and subnational levels.

On the request of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center), Yuan led a CPC team visited Nepal from Sunday to Tuesday.
