Australia and the Philippines conduct military training and are preparing to patrol the South China Sea.
Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles has said that his country has a vested interest in the safety of the South China Sea and would increase its cooperation with the Philippines on joint patrols in the area.
On Friday, while watching a joint exercise that included the United States Marines and the armed forces of Australia and the Philippines, Marles made the statement. Also present at the exercise was Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
